Shower remodeling

A shower is the least forgiving part of the room, so it is built from the waterproofing out rather than from the tile in.

Waterproofing first: The pan, the fall to the drain and the membrane behind the board all go in before a single tile does.
Walls flattened first: Tile telegraphs whatever is behind it, so the substrate gets trued up before anything is set.
Niches and benches: Set where you will actually reach for a bottle, not where the stud bay happened to fall.
Tub surrounds too: Tiled surrounds as well as walk-in showers, in large-format porcelain or mosaic.
